Website Addition - ATOM feeds

Mon 08 Jul, 2013 8:59 pm

I am not to sure who is the sysadmin, so I will post this here.

I use the email subscription feature to get notified when a new post is made in some subsections of the site.
It is a good feature, but personally, I prefer using RSS and ATOM feed readers for website updates so that I can keep news and such separate from emails.

After much fiddling with external parsers I found that phpBB has an inbuilt ATOM parser.https://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/faq-phpbb-atom-feeds/

Is there any chance of this being enabled in the future?

Thanks. It works very well.

For anyone else interested, if you just wish to subscribe to one or two subforums replace the "viewforum.php" with "feed.php" and then use that url in your feed reader.
Eg:
Code:
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3

becomes
Code:
http://bushwalk.com/forum/feed.php?f=3

Most browsers have a button (often in the URL bar) to easily see all feeds available for a page/site and to select the ones you want to subscribe to. Of note, Apple removed this feature on recent versions of Safari for some odd reason (I believe there's a plugin/extension that puts it back though).

On this site, you can subscribe to feeds for individual topics or forums, or the entire site.
