TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Butane canister adapter

Hi guys, new fella here. I'm pretty keen on camping and being outdoors in general.

All this time, I've been using my trusty lantern that runs on CV470 camping gaz canisters.

These canisters have been getting exponentially more expensive over the years. I was wondering is there an "adapter" of some sorts that allows me to run my lantern using commonly available kmart butane canisters?

Not seen any adapters that go from bayonette nozzle to CV470.

I have seen CV470 to EN417/Lindal converters like this, but that won't help you:

There are adapters from bayonette nozzle to EN417 / Lindal screw in valves, like this from Kovea:

Kovea has an LPG adapter as well, but it goes to a EN417 valve, so won't help you again:

If you don't find anything, it might be cheaper in the long run to get an new screw in lantern that uses the Lindal screw in valve. Kovea has them and you can see in the pics here that they can use the straight nozzle cartridges http://www.kovea.com.ph/index.php?route ... duct_id=61

That's what I been struggling with. On average I use 1-2 canisters per trip, more if I'm beach fishing.

I've thought of getting a new lantern so that I can use the butane canisters but this lantern has been with me for a long time and it has great sentimental value.
