TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

walking shoes

with all the sales on, was a good time to get replacement walking shoes.
i've normally gone for salomons and i have some xa prod 3d's but the tread on them is only really suited for softer ground, there isnt much rubber to contact the ground, so they'll wear fast on harder ground, so i was going with something with more rubber on the sole
mountain designs had a good range to choose,
looked at the mammut claw's , good outer sole but bad fit, narrow inteh forefoot and too loose in the heel.
salomon exits and elios were too heavy for what i wanted and were going for $240
columbia had some good deals
the switchback 2 Omni Techs had good outser sole tread, comfortable fit, light. and waterproof and i ended up getting them at $100 off, $130, so i bought them....
columbia are improving a lot in their gear,

Just stay away from Merrel's - wear too quick and are prone to developing squeaks!
