I am looking at shaving weight from my multi-tool, but still want the redundancy that the various tools offer. Most critical are the pliers.
I have seen some around the 120-140g mark, but wonder if anyone has any particular suggestions. I would like to go as light as I can.
Does anyone have any experience with the Gerber Dime? It is only 62g.

What use are tools that are redundant?
The Leatherman Squirt PS4 is only 56.4g, but if it was me I'd get a Skeletool or Freestyle

yeh, the squirt is neat, pretty small but hard to use for any proper jobs.
the skeletool is much more usable and light. its locking mechanisim is very reassuring and i highly rate them.
havnt used the freestyle or your Dime, but you wont go wrong with the skeletool.

The chisel ground blade on the Squirt is crap too.
Does the skeletool only come with the use-for-everything-but-good-at-nothing combo blade?

Yes it does and don't forget the food sticks to the holes cut into the blade. The blade is only a cutting blade not a bear grills do everything type of blade.
I have one and am happy enough to use it over and over again but it only does have the one holey blade (it is not that bad) star and flat screw driver and pliers/wire cutter.
I think that is all it does???
Oh Skeletool is what I am talking about.
What else are you going to need to use on the track? that you can't fix with duct tape, cable ties and pliers I wonder.
I have only ever needed the pliers once and am hard pressed to think of something which needs a screwdriver that I pack with me.
You could also rely upon one of your gear junky friends to carry more than enough for you to use and them to carry

The best I have used is the Squirt PS4 that has a reasonable set of pliers and scissors that can cut toenails. While not a patch on their bigger brothers for strength they are an acceptable compromise for me.
