TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

WE slingshot daypack

hi ho, does anyone here have a WE slighshot daypack?? if so - what do you think??

i am hunting around for a new daypack that's about 25l, bladder-compatible and has a vented back. this seems to fit the bill perfectly. the only down-side is that it seems a little heavy - but i am not too fussed about a slightly heavy one-day-pack as it keeps my fitness up for a heavy multi-day-pack :)

1.27kg is crazy for a 25 litre day pack.
Check out the Osprey Exos 34 at 960g and probably all the features you need.

Hi

I bought the old version of the WE slingshot earlier this year from K2 in Bne. WE recently released a newer version that doesn't look as good or feel as solid as the older one. It is a great rugged pack that is extremely comfortable and hard wearing. I had some initial concerns about the zip but it has been pack to bursting point and not failed. I agree it may be a little heavy for some but the same could be said for my One Planet Macmillan. Cheers

Looks okay to me, though a bit hard to tell without seeing the harness. If it's comfortable and the back length is right for you it should be good.

I like the Osprey Exos too, but it's a different pack altogether sacrificing toughness for lightweight. So comparing the weight is hardly fair. (100d/210d Nylon pack compared to a 450d polyester pack reinforced with 600d nylon). But if you have no scrub (etc.) walking on the horizon certainly worth a look.

Not sure if the $199 RRP is what you are looking at paying, but a One Planet Traverse for $215 is a very nice & a reasonably tough pack as well. But 52% bigger and 18% heavier too - kinda doubles as a small overnighter in case you care.

I have the 'old' version of this backpack & I think it's great.
I honestly don't notice the weight of it & I've got really crappy shoulders, so it's all carried on my back as it should be.
Awesome pack. I rate it.
