TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I'm considering bringing the PLB (ACR ResQFix 406 GPS) I use in the ditch bag in my lobster boat here in the US with me to Tassie as I'll be bushwalking solo for most of my stay. Any comments on this units compatiblity with AusSAR ?

I've been using EPIRBS and PLB's for over 15 years now and although I've never had to deploy one intentionally, I did have a unit activate because of a manufacturing defect which triggered a fairly quick response by Coast Guard boats and aircraft, as well as a number of friends in the commercial fishing community. Quite impressive.
