TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I would if i lived in Canberra. I went to the Camping and Outdoor show at Rosehill last week, bu tsadly hikers are very neglected. Good if you're into caravans.....
We're taking my 12 yo son and 5 of his mates mates for a camping trip and then a caves walk to Wombeyan Caves, so that's my excitement (stress levels ++) for the weekend

Are there any dedictaed outdoor hiking/climbing/rafting/kayaking shows in Aust?

Hi Greenie,

It is trade only, the public is not welcome.

I know we are not invited :-( . I was thinking there would be people on here that are in the trade and might go.

Wouldn't it be good if there was a show for us

SOTA can be interesting.
I first attended about three years ago, and met the legendary Bob Cooper, who all my instructors when I attended the ADF Combat Survival School years ago reckoned was a really nice bloke - they were right.

It was nice to see who's who in the zoo, but it's quite a small and tame event compared to something like SHOT Show held in Vegas, or Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City. I didn't get to attend OR, but walked past the venue, it was a really busy looking setup.

It doesn't help you this year mate, but I'm planning on attending SOTA next year, when things calm down somewhat for me.

Thanks.

How did you get a ticket? Do they have mining equipment there?

No, no mining equipment mate :)

Part of my own business is design consultancy for outdoor bushwalking and military load bearing equipment, of which publishing reviews is one small part of my business activities.
I got into SOTA via one of my military equipment clients, to benchmark what was happening in the civvy bushwalking side of the house, in order to better educate my military readership what's going on in other parts of the industry.
