TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Anyone used Klattermusen, Mammut?

Has anyone experience with Klattermusen gear?

They'll generally only ship to a European address (I'm lucky - it helps to have Swedish relos!)
Prices in their outlet store are much better

Hubb was drooling over their pants @over 700 Euros (lol)

We got him a pair of Mammuts intstead which was much more reasonable http://www.campsaver.com/nordwand-pants-men-s

This jacket looks pretty nice

I've been very happy with my Mammut Sphere sleeping bag. About 900g and is very warm- as long as you can keep it dry. Used it for the first time on a night that was well 0 and it performed very well- I generally sleep cold. Perfect for volatile Tassie summer weather as long as you can manage condensation.

I've never heard of Klattermusen but looks like thay have some good stuff.

As for Mammut I love their gear! Got a sleeping bag and fleece which are both great, so warm and light. As I need more things they're one of the first I tend to check out. They have a long history and being a Swiss mob, you can guarantee they are well made.

With time you soon learn Wayno that it's better to buy something once. So many inexperienced walkers buy cheap, and then buy twice.

I came across Klattermusen in a fairly roundabout way. I liked the muted yellow jacket worn by the (eye candy) model who demonstrates pitching various Hilleberg tents when I was researching them. I noted the jacket had the company's logo on it and assumed they had also made the jacket. So, afater failing to find any Hilleberg branded jackets when I searched for them, I sent an e-mail asking about it. They directed it to the 'fellow' in the video who replied:

I am happy to hear that they like the jacket I am wearing in the videos :)
> it is a Noatun from Klättermusen. It's a stretchy breathable soft shell but
> it has been replaced by a similar style called Allgrön. Also a very nice
> jacket indeed! I love my Noatun :)

So i looked and found the Klattermusen site, and then the outlet store which has some of the older colours, like the muted buttercup yellow in the Hilleberg vids. Nice gear, pretty exe tho. None of the discounted ones in my sizes left tho :( Interestingly, they make the same styles in both men's and women's cut, not just nice or technical styles for men and then a few odd things like an afterthought for women. Very enlightened (typical Swedes!) I wish more companies did this, but I guess the men's market must be much bigger.

Hubby now has a pair of Mammut Nordwand pants and jacket coming so he's set for the winter ski and walking season (lol we don't go ice climbing, but he'll look like he does!)
