TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

The last image is taken without flash to show how much light I get from this.

I could read my kindle, prep food, eat, and clean my gun under the light.

The light string is one of these cheap eBay Christmas light you could get for a few dollars including delivery from China.
Plenty of light from 3 AA battery, so far I have get about 8 nights worth of light (maybe about 5 hours a night) with the same set and it still going strong.
The current drain measured to be about 30 mA and since standard AA eneloop have about 2000 mAh, I expect a set of battery would last at least 60 hours of use, thats about 12 nights with my average usage!! I dont even bother to bring spare batteries..
On longer trips (very rare) I may bring a solar charger to charge the battery.

I get the idea from someone called Leipmeister in BushcraftOz forum.
Damned shame to to share.
