TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

It's Tax Time - What Are You Getting With Your Tax Refund?

Tue 09 Jul, 2013 7:22 pm

In honour of the thread that asked 'what did you get for Christmas?' I'm asking what gear are you planning on buying with your tax return?

Tax time is gear buying season for me as I tend to get a decent amount of money back on my return, so at this stage... I'm eying off a cuben fibre tent - possibly a setup similar to Phil's, an MLD duomid with an Oooks inner. Fun, fun, fun. If I don't get enough coin for that I think I'll look at getting a lightweight rain jacket, possibly the montane minimus.

So... if you're getting some money back this tax time, what goodies are you eying off?

New sleeping bag if there's any cash leftover!

I want to upgrade my 4WD and TV. But I will not get that much back. I pretty much have everything I want for hiking, I did order a new stove kit a couple nights ago from the states, I lost count how many stoves I now have, I think, I'm going through a stove fetish.

I'll most probably use most of it to extend my travel time to take in a bit of India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia (my partner's from KL) - the gear I've got should cover that ;)

If there's any left over when I get back to Oz it'll be financing a basic beginners climbing rack.
