TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Replacement tent poles/ hoops

Fri 06 Jan, 2017 9:37 pm

Wondering if anyone can recommend a good replacement pole - the middle pole in my Eureka tent has finally snapped after 20 years use. I then went onto Ebay and bought what appeared to be identical aluminium poles (with internal shock cord) and one of the sections snapped after just two uses ( the original alumninium poles were somewhat bendable which takes the stress off the ends of sections.

what Eureka tent is that ?
(might have a tight radius needing pre-bents...)

Mine is a three hoop Eureka! tent (Special Edition) c.1995. I need a better quality aluminium that allows me to pre- bend them. Any ideas where I could get them?

You can get straight as well as pre bent sections from here :
http://www.ansco.com.au/Tent-Poles-Acce ... s/1925.htm
and build the pole. Don't forget the ends and you need one section without insert as well as shockcord.
You can cut them with a Dremel or hacksaw.

A Caddis?

Even with postage a good bit cheaper than ANSCO, prebending isn't all that easy without the appropriate tools but TPT will only charge $1- for each bend
With the proper alloy prebending shouldn't be needed on a Caddis but they do set to the curve after a use or two
Pix of the tent would be appreciated as there were many versions of that tent made over its lifetime

Just get in touch with TPT. Fill out their custom poles form (http://tentpoletechnologies.com/?page_id=22), and probably email them pictures of the original pole in case it has pre-bent sections. TPT can make a new pole to suit.
