TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Hi, I've run out of my last cleaning tabs. What are good suggestions that are cheaper than the hydrapak/camelbak tabs? Or just an old vinegar water solution etc?
Cheers

You will not have to clean it so often if you can keep it in the fridge or freezer.
Otherwise make sure its dry when you store it.
Liquid and room temperatures are the worst combination.

Citric acid crystals from supermarket. A 1/2 tspn in kettle and bring to boil removes lime scale in the kettle. Less than that and 3/4 cup of warm water in a bladder. Slosh around for 5 minutes. Worked on my bike bottle a treat. If the plastic has yellowed nothing can remove that, but it is nothing to worry about. Poke a couple of long chopsticks in bladder to keep it open to dry out.

Milton’s solution….used for sterilising baby milk bottles etc.
Or just bicarbonate soda if you feel the need. I’ve never sterilised a water bladder in 25yrs, and don’t even rinse it between uses….erk….
Just made a new bladder cover to ight for forthcoming trip, but using a bladder from a 10l water box from supermarket, so it’s all fresh and new….
