TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Easy Access Tents

Fri 25 Feb, 2011 8:42 am

Appreciate there has been a lot of discussion on tents but I'm finding I have a slightly different problem to solve.

I have and am very happy with my MacPac Minaret but on a recent trip to the Western Lakes where we had the usual bad weather I found this aging body struggled getting in and out of the small opening via the cramped vestibule.

Are there any tents out there of similar weight and strength that have more space, especially to get in and out of.

Thx

Dave

How about a taller tent like a tipi?

A pyramid/tipi could be a solution. With those you need a size up (a 3 person for 2 to use) if you want an inner with them.
So for example the GoLite Hex and Nest.
Another way would be one with a side entry and out of the way vestibule, so that you can sit on the floor facing out than just swing the legs in.

The Nallo is quite low, but the GT vestibule opens up in a very clever way that allows you to step right out of the front of the tent without bending much. Quite ingenious, in fact.
