TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Anybody used these?

Seem a trimmer fit than most but otherwise look good(except for drawcord and velcro footbox).

Iceman I'm also in the market for a quilt and have decided on a synthetic one. I'm tossing up between the MLD Spirit 38 and maybe something from enLightened Equipment. The MLD quilts seem lighter but I can't find the fill weight for the Spirit quilt whereas enLightened Equipment list their's. This BPL thread mentions they are narrow so more of an issue if you are in a tarp or cooler temps. I'd be more than likely using mine for 3 season use.

For anyone hunting down cottage gear, here is a link to an online ssheet with a good compilation of suppliers.

re the EE, do you really want a VBL? Be sweaty as inside?

ive got an MLD spirit and find that its used more often than my WM summerlite during our summers here. I guess the main reason would be ease in washing it as it gets dirty compared to down, and its just easier to flip open in the heat of the night. it then gets supplemented to the summerlite in winter conditions, to be used as a sacrificial bag so the condensation gets formed inside the synthetic quilt rather than the down bag.

keep in mind I did get abit of a suprise when i first got it in its packed size. they are light, but quite bulky.

They have one VBL bag which uses Cuben Fiber the rest of their bags / fabrics are breathable.

Was this your first synthetic bag? Which one have you got and what is the pack size? How do you find the thing generally re size?

Think this is the one I'm going to pull the trigger on in the 38 for Aus/NZ even though I can't get him to do a sewn footbox for me :(

its my second synthetic bag, as I did have a spiderman synthetic bag when i was 5, but i dont think that counts for what you're asking.
Ron used to only offer 2 warmths for the quilt and i got the 45 degree quilt which is suitable for our summers.
I did have a quick review of it here.

Those epiphany blow up quilts looks like a great idea but for sydney conditions year round, i'm just not so sure if its suitable.

Thanks Dale and Ninja Puppet. Have you used it since in lower temps?
I tend to wear my wets to bed to dry them so VBLs don't work for me or CF bags

Thinking a system of a wide light down quilt (so can be used for 2 for walking trips) + a synthetic (Spirit) for those colder/alpine nights...or just one for an assault bivy...one night affairs
