TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Thanks for the link Gippsmick. I'm in the market for a lighter pack. Will have a read on that site you linked to now. I think I know what I'm going to purchase, but would be great to see if the pack in question is mentioned on that site.

Some feedback after my original post ... I purchased an Aarn Featherlite Freedom. I couldn't be happier with it. I did a one week pack carry in Kakadu, and had absolutely no back, neck or shoulder discomfort. With a total weight of up to around 15 kg (no warm clothes required!), I found it more comfortable than a conventional day pack weighing much less. The only downside is that the pack takes a bit longer to put on than a conventional pack. I also found that it required a great deal of adjustment to get right, and I was back to the store a couple of times before using it.

I just went and purchased a Gossamer Gear Mariposa 2012 Ultralight Backpack at only 765 grams.
Having that light weight on my back is going to be great. No more heavy packs.

My goal is to get total pack weight with food for 4 days and 2 litres of water included under 10kg. I'm almost there, Just need a lighter tarp and lighter rain gear and I'll be well under the 10kg mark.
I'll be taking this new pack with me on a 7 day hike in a couple weeks.

So you sold your other pack(s) prior to receiving your new GG pack? Bold move.
I am sure you will be happy, but it is still a gamble. Report back when you receive it.

Oh no,
That's not all my packs, I have a small collection of packs here. Most are day packs but I also own a 47 litre Jansport pack I can use In case the new pack don't get here in time,
I'm sure it will, because a mate ordered the same new pack one week ago and it arrived today.

My Gossamer Gear Mariposa 1012 pack arrived from the states today.
Had a chance to try it out just before lunch today, I love this pack. It's so light and comfortable to wear. The pack weight 756 grams.
Tried it with 9kg in the pack. Didn't feel like I was wearing a pack.
