Just found this on my Macpac Traverse. No delamination apparent on the outside, just the lining coming apart inside. Location is level with bum, right hand side.

Very disappointing considering the jacket has done 3 day walks, total walking time = 12 hours.

Cam - I purchased this jacket on 11/12/11, so it is still in warranty. However, I no longer have the receipt. Will there still be record of my purchase in the MWC system?

Looks like it has been rubbed through on something - does the hip belt go over that section and what is against it on the inside? I would expect a larger more general failure if it was a material defect, but who knows.....

Well below anything on my pack, it is smack bang in the middle of my right bum cheek. Very odd indeed!

I've found Mont's Hydronaute pro to do this on occasion also, but only after some fairly brutal usage in areas of high wear on their waterproof pants. When its happened to me it has always been my usage causing the issue such as on the knee areas from being on my knees in scrub or dodgy rock climbs/scrambles and also on the bum area after basically sliding on my *&%$#! forom the top of Frenchmans down to Lake Tahune last winter (was totally worth it), so its just how it is. It's never really have any noticeable affect on the product in any way either, so I haven't really cared. Wouldn't be happy if it happened with minimal usage though!

Hmm, as Gays said the first thing that comes to mind is that the inside of the jacket has been rubbing on something. This is standard 18d tricot and is pretty robust. Put on the gear your wore and see what it wad in contact with, maybe a zip slider on a mid layer? Either way, we can arrange to have some seam tape placed over that area to protect the membrane. Hobart store easiest for you?

I put on all my gear earlier and I think I've narrowed it down to a small piece of Velcro (10mm x 5mm) on the shorts I was wearing.

How long would it take to fix, and can the Hobart store do it on-site? I
I have a walk planned 10am tomorrow and will definitely be needing a jacket!

They won't be able to do on site, it needs a seam taped machine, so off to remote . You can always put some tape over the membrane to protect it, that'll keep you going..
