TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Re: Using one walking pole?

Just a single bamboo staff for me......lightweight, strong & has a smooth hand surface.

Held it up front of me to take the brunt of those early morning cobwebs, really don't
fancy a mouth full o' spider first thing in the morning !

I tend to switch hands frequently, so I'm not using the same arm all day long.

Good for flicking the odd sleepy slithering serpent off the track.

Even use it as steadying mono-pod if you wish....just add a threaded knuckle to the top.

If I know I'm going to be traversing a long rocky ridgeline, I just grab a bush stick from the ground....& just throw it
away when I'm scrambling over the rocky sections & grab another one when needed. They're more of a hindrance than a help in that situation.
