What is a "good" weight for a 2 man snow tent?

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I know there are a lot of variables here, but what are typical weight ranges for "light weight" 2 man tents suitable for snow use in Australia e.g. Victoria?

probably above 2.5 kilos.
tents designed for winter are heavier than those that arent, if you ned it to withstand sstrong storms you are really looking more like 3 kilos

Probably whatever you don't mind carrying

You can get under 2kg if you go floorless but that might be a bit hardcore in the snow for most.
If you can get one with a floor under 3kg you've done alright.
I have a 1.5man (just a 1 man with a tiny bit more side room) and it is about 2.4kg.

what he said\

depends on how much space you want which is related to how big the 2 men are. doing a trip with two blokes over 6ft is going to be different if they were smaller folk or if the 'men' were really a man and a woman or a man and his dog, all things being equal

depends on how many days you are out for and whether you want comfort or just survival.
how big is a hole?

I like the Aarn and looking forward to a play in it this winter. That and\/or the grandshelters igloo maker, ninjapuppet...
