TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Using spark off cooker for fire

Thu 27 Dec, 2012 6:51 am

This is a bit out there but lately I have been studying some more bush survival and was wondering if anyone has ever tried or needed to use the ignition spark from a jetboil to start a fire because they ran out of gas or needed a signal fire?

Would it work like flint?

Maybe in perfect tinder dry conditions. I suggest you give it a try.
A flint is only around $10.00 from Anaconda and will start a fire.
