TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

In case anyone read this in the future I ended up buying an osprey kestrel pack & I love it. So far out only been tested over 10km with 10kg but I didn't end up in Pain. I think this would be the 1st time I could ever say this. I'm a lot fitter& have much better upper body strength since I last walked which I imagine is contributing to this too. Thanks for all the feedback!

I have the arial and I love it. Max load I have had in it has been 18kg and as long as it is packed well I have no problems carrying it all day. I used to carry my sleeping bag and mat in the bottom but now I have those at my back and food in the lower area and it seems to be a better spread of weight for me. I suggest you gradually increase you weight in the bag and carry it for increasing time. Try packing it different ways and see if it helps with the load. Have fun walking.
