TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Zpacks hexamid twin

Very pleased with my Hexamid to date. Used it on Bogong last weekend. Clear cold night. No condensation on it (at all)....Previous use was down in the depths of the Howqua valley last month, when I did get condensation, but no worse than any other tent.

It seems very stable , and pitches taughtly. I think the major issue regarding using it in high winds is setting it up by yourself! Other than that, it looks like it pitches so tight that it will shed wind well.

Hey Andrew

I have the Hexamid Solo....and I couldn't agree more. I get quite a taught pitch, and have figured out a way to pitch in high winds with relative ease. Similar with the condensation...very little irrespective.

Otherwise, I'm with you there...sheds wind very well. It never ceases to amaze me...just did the Overland Track (took my nephew this time for his first big adventure)...I used my Hexamid solo. Set up near Kia Ora in howling winds (and sleet snow)...people thought I was mad, thinking that rain etc. was going to blow straight in to my odd excuse for a shelter....but to their surprise...not a drop ....and it came in from all angles.

...compared to their 20kg packs (including front packs)...I wasn't so mad with a base pack weight of 4.7kg, with total skin out weight including consumables at just over 8kg <insert evil laugh here>

at that weight, you'll be able to get the hexamid cuben kilt, hold hands and skip along the overland with no undies on.

Pretty impressive.

My solo does let some splashes of rain in if it rains hard enough. I could just get the detachable door, but thinking of upgrading to the twin. How heavy is the twin on the scales?
