TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

They have proved a great fit for my foot and are holding up very well despite some other comments noted on this site. My wife has suffered lost toenails on everywalk or pain. she has tried a few different boots.
We are off for more walks including Kilimanjaro at the end of the year. I would like her to try Zamberlan boots but locally (Hobart) the range is poor and I would like her try a few boots on rather than we only have in your size!
We are off to Melbourne in a few weeks so we can try there.

Any suggestions on stores to try in Melbourne with a good range of boots and good service??

I am fairly sure Mountain Designs stock Zamberlan.

Yeah they do. A precision though : although Zamberlan have the reputation to have large toe-boxes, they're usually laced up pretty tight in that area, having the reverse effect, be careful about that.

This is correct, I have a pair of Zamberlan boots and frankly you do need to be careful.
I have a pair of Aku boots on order and I'm keen to see how they work out.
Also, don't rule out Scarpas for mountaineering stuff.

Mountain Designs Hobart do stock Zamberlan, it is more or less exclusive to MD in Australia. We do stock the Vioz in both men's and women's but sometimes have limited sizes. I think we are particularly low in the Women's Vioz at the moment. Perhaps you've been in already and this was the case.
I can try and do an order though if stock is available in other stores. It can be a bit difficult though if we are low on stock and we need to work out sizing. Again this may have been the case when you were in.
The easiest way to let me know if you want me to try and order something is to email me at the store hobart@mountaindesigns.com and I can try and help. Otherwise most of the outdoor stores are in Little Bourke Street in Melbourne. MD is at 373 and have Zamberlan. Macpac, Kathmandu, Snowgum, Paddys and Bogong are all close by. It is a similar strip to Hobart but you get Bogong and Paddy's as well.

Cheers
Amanda (MD Hobart)

I got my last pair of Zamberlans at Eastern Mountain Centre (EMC) in Melbourne, many years ago.
The sales person was very knowledgeable, and helpful.
They are at 68 Whitehorse Rd, Deepdene. A bit over half an hour by tram from the City.
