TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Re-applying DWR

Tue 16 Jul, 2013 8:38 am

Hi all,

I have an ageing, but still going strong Wilderness Wear waterproof jacket that has lost it's DWR ability. I have applied a number of DWR treatments over the years, all wash in, and I have not been entirely happy with the results. I am going to try a spray on DWR treatment as a bit of research suggests this may be superior. I was hoping to probe the collective knowledge of the group as to;

1. What treatments have you used and been HAPPY with the result?
2. How long has the re-application lasted?
3. Are they wash in, or spray on?
4. Any other sage comments....?

Thanks,

Peter

Nikwax rinse, directions on the bottle, used a small bucket rather than the washing machine.
About as difficult as putting laundry in a top loader. Lasts as long as it says in the trade literature.
