TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. It's hard to tell for sure but it doesn't look like the spines and legs of those two guys are curving a whole lot.

Both of those hammocks pictured have spreader bars, unlike the cartoon hammock ofuros posted.
Do the spreader bars make a flat sleeping surface easier to achieve?

That design is called a bridge hammock: http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en-AU&q=bridge+hammock.

EDIT: Yes, a bridge hammock is supposed to provide a flatter sleeping experience.

Hammocks are one of the best option for complete relaxation. In any rainy or snowy condition it is better to use a hammock trap to get relief from the weather.

Wow, I can't believe I missed that. I'd love to have a decent hammock tarp combo.
Now I have 4 sleeping systems that I'd love to have.. Snow tent, hammock+tarp, cat tarp + bivy and normal tent.

Eventually I'll probably end up making my own one from nylon, seeing as that's the cheapest way to get into it.

You can access ripstop nylon from Spotlight which makes a reasonable hammock. A couple of rolled hems, a couple of end channels, connect up you suspension and you are done :D .

That's the plan, it's the tarp + under quit that is harder.

Aagh yes.

I got a nice underquilt from Molly Mac Gear in the states, using Climashield as the insulation and it works really well down to about 5*C so far, and I am sure it would go a bit lower. So Climashield could be a good option.
