TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Snowgum polar ice 4 season thoughts please

Postby cjm458 » Thu 12 Sep, 2013 8:40 pm

Hi all, my first post, I currently have a dilemma, I have an MSR Zoid 1, love it but I'm going to,fiordland fly fishing, and it won't have enough room, I am looking at buying a second hand (virtually new) snowgum polar ice 2 man tent, so as I. Can have my pack, inside etc, Question is, has anyone had any experience with this tent as such and anyone's thoughts please....Or should I just get a light Fly type Tarp as extra coverage.

Many Thanks in Advance Craig.

I think you are talking about this tent: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/essendon ... 1023370162
If you are not camping where you expect serious winds/snow then I'd say it doesn't really matter which one you choose.
I'd go with the lighter combination.
I'd be hesitant about both tents in true 4 season conditions.
The snowgum tent looks heavy.

How will you store your catch?

That was the tent, opting for a fly instead at this stage, all fish will go back for someone else to have the same pleasure.

Fiordland flyfishing ???

Where, without giving away any secrets ?

The only areas that come to mind for me are the eastern side along lake Te Anau ??

Broaden my limited knowledge, please :)

Don't they rent out certain stretches of river so that you are guaranteed no interference.... or was that canada?
