Osprey Exos Update 2014

Bushwalking gear and paraphernalia. Electronic gadget topics (inc. GPS, PLB, chargers) belong in the 'Techno Babble' sub-forum.

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Osprey Exos Update 2014

Postby South_Aussie_Hiker » Wed 23 Oct, 2013 11:38 am

While not ultralight, the Exos seems a fairly popular choice in the Bushwalking community.

Found this today, some small updates to bring the weight down a fraction in the 2014 model.

Only problem is won't be released until Feb next year.

Looks good.

Does anyone know if a new Atmos 65 is also due for release?

The Exos is the best pack Osprey make, IMO.

I need to shorten the straps on mine. They are all too generous.

Yes the Exos is awesome but the capacity is a little lacking for non-UL walkers.

How so Strider? Volume is volume isn't it? Also, Exos comes in a range of 3 volumes, 34L to 58L. I assume you meant the 58L is not capacious enough for those needing more, right?

Yeah it's not a pack for big loads. Even if they made an "Exos 80" unless they improved the frame it wouldn't be suitable for carrying much more than 15kg, same with most UL packs.

Correct. I could probably squeeze my gear into 58L, but it would mean leaving my most treasured items behind. Like my pillow :(

yup at the end of the day you need to stick with the gear list YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH and not just continually pare stuff back to continue saving space and weight and ignore the fact that you end up with a gear list that is going to make you less comfortable and happy on the trip...
ueli steck is an ultralight outdoor mountain climber, shaves every spare gram he can in his gear but despite that , you won't catch him dead without his coffee percolator on his overnight climbs !
from the land of the long white clouds...
