TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Whether heading out into the mountains for a weekend trip with girlfriends or preparing for a long solo adventure, having a pack that meets your needs is essential to both enjoyment and comfort. We have tested 9 of the top women’s specific backpacking backpacks to explore how they compared side by side, and to answer the question 'do you need a women's pack?' The packs we tested ranged from 50 liters to 75 liters with most right in the middle around 65 liters in carrying capacity. We compared the weight, suspension, ease of use, adjustability, and organization options of each backpack during outdoor multi-day trips, and then compiled the findings in the chart below.
