TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I just got back from a week in Mt Kos NP walking from Guthega completing the main range circuit and a few side trips.

I had the TT Notch (replaced a Macpac Nautilus) and bought my sister in law the TT Moment DW. Both tents were great, I fell in love with the Moment DW offering that slightly simpler and quicker time to set it up and pull it down, and the ability with the optional pole to make the Moment DW a free standing tent. One other advantage I was envious of was the Moment DW was slightly wider in the middle than the Notch.

Having said that, I still love my Notch for its light weight and simple set up (provided you use walking poles).

Overall, a big thumbs up for both tents.
Regards Ian.

I am looking at purchasing a solo 3 season tent. Some great tips within this thread.

Is there a reason why MSR Hubba NX1 is not more favoured by walkers?

They seem to be sold in a lot of the main retailers, however it would seem not many people have commented on them here.

Is it an issue with weight, durability, quality or price?

Many thanks. Steve.

I found the Tarptent Stratospire 1 an amazing tent. Last Christmas it handled +80kph winds and heavy driving rain. It weighs a tad over a kg, has huge amounts of room for one and 2 great vestibules. It is good in warmer weather too, as the vestibules can be opened wide open to get maximum airflow.

Me too, it is a brilliant design and when pitched correctly will handle more than most people would give it credit for.

I concur with legend and DanShell on the Tarptent Stratospire 1: mine copped a whacking last Xmas and I don't know how it survived without shredding, but add: use poles with the panel lifters in high wind, replace the vestibule guys with 2.5m of 2.5 or 3mm line to stop slippage thru the line locs (or maybe use a toggle); buy some extra pegs when ordering - you'll need 2 extra for the guys anyway and they look like good value. I suggest you get the support poles for base camping or for using on the panel lifters. The one thing I miss is the inner doesn't have a storage pocket (and I would like a heavier floor to obviate a ground sheet in wet conditions, but it is OK).
