TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Walking pants

Hi. I've been a long-time user of Columbia Silver Ridge, and whatever it was that preceded them. I now need a new pair. It seems to me that without exception, all Australian retailers cater for some sylph-like wisp up to and including size 34, with a red line crossed through the larger sizes.

I am something like 121cm, or 47 inches. Quite large. Are there any recommendations for light, water-resistant, quick dry pants suitable for light walking?

I don't like pants with zip-off legs - the people that manufacture them obviously don't wear them themselves as they put the zip right below the knee so that each step drags the zip over the knee and back again.

I have Jack Wolfskins that I bought in Turkey on the Lycian Way but these are a bit heavy and a weird kind of stretchy.

Suggestions welcomed. Thanks.
