TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Best boot laces

Postby Cauchs » Wed 03 Feb, 2016 9:42 pm

I had a bit of a search and found a few mentions of boot laces however was surprised no one seems to have asked the question.

The laces on my newish scarpas seem to be wearing pretty quickly so I want to replace them before it's an issue.

I replaced the laces on my last pair of boots with para cord which is still on them now. It is tough as nails but the annoying thing was the Squeek in the eyelets every step!

What laces have you found to be good?

I quite like these https://www.rhinolaces.com/
Because they have metal aglets (the little bits on the end usually plastic that splits).

Maybe try some 2mm Dyneema for the DIY option. It is really tough stuff, but there is no give in it, so maybe it wouldn't be so comfortable for shoe laces? Rope Galore always has the stuff on special with free postage.

Lawson is making these Technora Toughlace's which are supposed to be pretty good. I haven't seen them yet but will be getting some in to test.

I had a pair of these once (oddly enough to replace some dying laces in some old scarpa scouts): http://www.amazon.com/Ironlace-Lace-1-P ... B00AK9LUCI

They seemed pretty tough, felt like Dyneema cord actually.
