Great idea

Bushwalking gear and paraphernalia. Electronic gadget topics (inc. GPS, PLB, chargers) belong in the 'Techno Babble' sub-forum.

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Diameter in 3/16th's of an inch = 4.76mm. I doubt that you will want to carry 5mm cord with you.

There is at least one 3.2mm version on EBay.
Still it may not be all that welcome on a busy campsite.

Must say that I am sceptical of the product being able to brightly illuminate for more than an hour.

Personally I have no wish to advertise my presence. Even reflective guys are an annoyance.

I can see where this product would be very handy; even an hour could make the difference between life and death on K-2
Not if I'm trying to stealth camp but for my winter camp yes maybe

I wonder if the chemical properties are unchanged in sub-zero conditions?

glow stuff drops its effectiveness as it gets colder, at least in my experience. I've always found that glow stuff works great going from bright to dark, but fades along with the twilight, so it doesn't show much after dark. That being said, I am planning on getting some glow makers for my hammock for group trips, rather than hanging a glowstick as some do, as a way to help the kids find me if needed. Although I've found my light gray tarp shows up really well on bright nights.

Not a bad idea in the right context, I'd use glow cord for zipper pulls, bag tags and lanyards more I think.

I have had some approx 3mm glow in the dark cord for a couple of years. I replaced all the zip tabs on my tent with it. Works well - very easy for that midnight call and it is a bit like sleeping in a glow worm cave. I also have gitd lineloc camcleats on my tent guys for when I am stumbling around.

The reflective guylines (there are a few makers) light up like a christmas tree with minimal torch light. I use them on my tent and hammocks. I can't see the advantage of glow in the dark over this?

Some of the US made stuff is pretty good. I had a paracord bracelet given to me that used some US made glow paracord, and the cord stayed luminescent for around 4 hours after being in the sun all day. I meant to cut down the cord and make some zipper pulls out of the cord, but I misplaced it a while back. Never got around to getting some more glow paracord, but there are a few sources out there for the US made stuff. Apparently the Chinese made glow cords don't stay luminescent for as long.

Will keep that in mind. Btw, does anyone know what's the active ingredient in them? Are they radioactive?

No radiation, its probably zinc sulfite which is the older stuff, or strontium aluminate if you are lucky, there are other compounds as well.
