Micro Spikes

I'm looking to purchase a pair of microspikes and seems that Kathoola are the preferred option.

I was also looking on Allied Express and saw these

Has anyone tried them?

I've been checking dx/ali etc for a while and couldn't decide whether to order an expensive kathoola or try my luck with these.

I just ordered the ones you linked (they look a little more solid than most of the cheapies) so if you can wait a few weeks I'll post back with my impressions.

I imagine the build quality will be suitable for a few trips, hopefully they turn out to be pretty solid. I figure they'll be repairable enough in the field to get me through.

Bought a pair a while ago, yet to use them. They look solidly built . . .

I think the biggest factor is how stretchy the rubber is when its cold. rubber is hard to do well, so that may be the weakest spot. Realistically though, if you had to rope them to your boots its not the worst case.

Grabbed these from the post office today, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the quality. Took 20 days to arrive, weigh in at 360 grams or 400 with the included pouch.

I was lucky enough to look at some well used kathoola brand spikes on the weekend, so I can't compare side by side but I think these appear to be very similar in every way, maybe a touch smaller. Like others have mentioned I have doubts about the quality of the steel and rubber, but considering these are only 20-25% the price, I think they're a good buy for casual use.

I will say they fit quite tightly on my boots, 10.5 UK Salomon Quest 4D.

Time will tell though, and I guess this winter I'll find out. I'm pretty confident they're field repairable with some para cord that will keep them going for as long as need be.

I think you will be happy with the Microspikes.
I have used them on three winter Overland trips. They have been used on frozen or wet boardwalks, over rocks and solid water ice (up over Hansons Peak when ice covered).
The grip they give is amazing.
They do ball (ice) up with snow, especially when walking through puddles and then back onto dry snow - all boot chains do this.

When I ordered the free freight took this long.
There were other faster freight options for extra cost that you could select if you need them sooner

I have seen Griprox at Anaconda for about $50. They are sold there for rock fishing. Only reason I didn't buy was they didn't have Large
