TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

The next big thing?

You kids seen these yet? http://www.flyingtent.com/en/oxid/

They just had a kick-starter campaign that went mental.

Not that big.

Literally not that big. I can't find dimensions but it looks much too small in the pictures I see. It's not a bridge hammock, and there's not enough room to get a flat lay.

While a bridge hammock that can also work as a tunnel tent is conceptually possible, it is doomed to be a compromise between the two.

Interesting so thanks for sharing.

Possibly the big attraction is the novelty value.
If it will work in practice, I'm not that sure...

Can't say I would want to disrobe from my poncho in order to set up a tent in the rain either.

...high quality water-resistant materials...
(my italics)

Y'know, I kinda prefer something a bit closer to waterproof for a tent or raingear.

Yeah the poncho is a nonsense but the tent/hammock idea is good.
They will sell a lot of those.

They specifically say that the poncho idea is for when you decide not to set up your "tent" and want to continue walking in the rain instead. So you would only do that if you are not going to later on convert the wet poncho into a tent.

The why would you want a 1kg poncho?
Just take a normal poncho
