TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

On sale and I have no spare money
Stocks of the larger sizes are very limited I was just informed but they do have XXL and XXXL available
http://www.uniqlo.com/au/store/men-ultr ... 20041.htmlI only sold mine because it was a size smaller than anticipated so I would say buy a size bigger than you usually think you need
Very LW and good value

... or only
$9.00 if you buy on sale in the US:
http://www.uniqlo.com/us/product/men-ultra-light-down-parka-079122.htmlcompared to
$79.90 in Australia.
I have not bought either so I do no know the quality.

No point trying to buy if all sizes are "out of stock"
Those that are in stock are the same price as here but in USD which means 30% dearer in real terms
Somebody please buy those 3-finger gloves so I can buy a new down parka ROFL

Yup I sold mine as well as it was a size too small. Considering picking another up, they're so cheap! I found it to be pretty toasty too, fine for under a shell when skiing in -10 temps.

I find I don't miss the zipper. my army type cardigan [ M-65 liner] just has buttons as does my current vest and it works just fine

Well I got one. Took a long while to arrive, took them 3-4 days just to post it. Maybe they wait for the ducks to shed the down naturally, sustainably, and then they stoke up the Dyson.
Its XXL but really a XL, its in black, the nylon they use is about as thick as gladwrap but the thing is its lightweight. I'm officially spoilt, I've never had a down piece of clothing before.

I'm asking The Boss permission to buy one
Fri 06 Nov, 2015 9:55 am
I ordered this one in RED
I'm hoping going up the size will help with the layering problem
I wouldn't normally layer down over synthetic but with the Mont-Bell being such a slim fit the hope is that this will fit over it and I can leave one of the LW fleeces behind and use the MB as the midlayer

Cecile asked me "Why a red one?" and of course I replied "Red ones are warmer"
Sat 07 Nov, 2015 12:27 pm
Of course. That's why I always go for the red if it's an option.

Red ones all sold out and mine hasn't arrived yet
Sat 14 Nov, 2015 3:07 pm
Mine arrived Friday
Fits me with just enough room to fit my mid-layer under it
EDIT
I should mention that the Mid-layer in question is the Mont-Bell Thermawrap parka and while I would normally use the down under the synthetic this seems to work well
This seasons have the fill weight on the label, mine says 83 grams; the same parka from Macpac has 112 grams which is a lot more but not enough to justify a retail price of $399- and sale price of $250-

Then buy a medium and have some room for a LW fleece under it if needed.
