Best socks

Bushwalking gear and paraphernalia. Electronic gadget topics (inc. GPS, PLB, chargers) belong in the 'Techno Babble' sub-forum.

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Hi,

I've read quite a few good things about the Darn Tough socks, including this thread, but it appears no suppliers are shipping to Australia anymore or are charging ridiculous prices for it (either over $100 per pair, or around $60 just for shipping). I've checked Socks Addict, Mass Drop, Amazon (US and Australia), ebay, REI, Camp Saver.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions on where to get these in Australia?

Thanks!

Massdrop has them regularly. In fact right now,

Review that may be helpful, this guy is a hardcore trekker who puts about 1000km on sock types to test them. http://www.frankrevelo.com/hiking/gear_footwear.htm

Costco has their woollen trekking socks in good supply and padding. Great price for a pack of 3.
Just move it!

Double layered...blister prevention.

Full cushion takes longer to fully dry. Turn it inside out halfway through the drying process.

Choice of Synthetic inner/Synthetic outer or Synthetic inner/Merino outer. As posted above, lots of styles. Aus stocked.

https://wrightsock.com.au/

An alternative if don't like a toed liner + outer sock combo like a injinji.

Darn Tough Vermont, preferably the full boot sock - the thickest.
Many socks, lasting many years.
Bushwalking and trail running.

Never cotton! Yuk.

Cheers

I do use the Darn Tough Coolmax range up here in the subtropics/tropics...just stock availability here in oz leaves a lot to be desired.

They do have a good choice of different heights, colours, cushioning etc etc...and the lifetime guarantee.
They're the pinnacle of long lasting socks...but others brands are catching up & are readily available here in Oz.

It's good to have more choices of durable socks in Oz at long last.
