Thanks for this Franco. I have dotted the floor of my moment and it works ok but striping the neo air as well is something that never crossed my mind. Makes sense when you think of it though. Two sticky surfaces meeting each other instead of one sticky and one smooth is bound to be better.

I seam seal tents pretty often and usually manage to add silicone to some other bit of gear...
I have done packs, shoes, bits of string (zip pulls)
may do the cat next time.

Hi Franco Have watched the video and your other videos too. I have bypassed buying a silnylon tent in the past because you have to seam seal . Looks to be a messy procedure and I am afraid the end result will look ugly! I noticed your video misting silnylon fix where you used a spray. Could you use this spray to seam seal a tent ? eg spray all the seams a number of times inside and out. Can you notice where you have sprayed and where you have not , when its dry.
When dry can you see a coating or can will it peel off. I am sure other people have concerns about seam sealing also.

Seam sealing is really about filling the small holes around the stitches , not just coating.
So I don't think that just spraying will do.
I could not detect any tactile difference after spraying but keep in mind that a full can only has about 40g of silicone inside, the rest is thinner and propellant.
Seam sealing can be messy if you use silicone undiluted .
Thinning 100% silicone down ends up with a consistency not that different to oil based paint.
Trying to spread pure silicone, including the slightly thinner SilNet and by some accounts Permantex (the "flowable" type) is a different matter altogether.
BTW, I charge $25 to do a tent. Could not do that if I had more than say 5 or 6 per week (they need to remain up for at least 24 but better still 48 hours...) and if that was a "job" , but has it is , I am semi retired, have the time and I quite like doing it.

Thanks Franco Will have to have a go. I am currently looking for a winter tent. And I have plenty of spare time at the moment with a broken leg. ( Mt Wills in January) As always, your posts are very informative both here and at BPL. Thanks for the offer.
