TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I also think 100 GSM would be too warm, 40 to 60 GSM would be better for me

Shirt - Colombia long sleeve
Jumper - macpac bush shirt
Windshirt - Patagonia Houdini - this is one of the best bits of gear I have- just spent a day on the SW Cape Range with rain an and wind - it wet through but was still keeping the wind off. then dries really quickly, It also breathes incredibly well.
Shell - Macpac - Resolution
Down Jacket - Macpac Twilight - just for camp- also use the houdini over the top.
A set of polys for when its cold

we have been trialling a lightweight primaloft jacket (will be in stores in about 2 months) as a mid-layer. We used 100gsm in the core/body and 60gsm in the sleeves and hood. The result is pretty great- light and compact enough to substitute a fleece (more warmer) and vastly superior versatility to a light weight down sweater ( it retains a great dealof it's thermal value when it is wet ). ,
I hope this has an integral hood, and personally i want mine as a pull-over with minimum zipper ; no more than down to the waist line

I'm guessing that like most of the bigger manufacturers they will have to cater for the masses rather than producing anything technical, esp on the first try where profitability will be a big factor in whether or not there is further development. So I'm not holding my breath.
And it's not like it's a new item for Macpac. They made some of those belay jackets a few winters ago and they had problems with the hood and the drawstring on the hoods, but otherwise were actually decent. I almost bought one at the time.
Montane makes a good pullover as does Rab on top of the usual US suspects. The one company I'd like make a synthetic pullover is Mont Bell esp now they do US rather than just JP sizing.

Well I would have thought technical gear led the market not the other way around.
patagonia are bringing out a short zio hoodie for next Northern winter so there is a definite demand
