Cheap Scarpas

G'day everyone. I'm looking around for some new boots. Prefer all leather. I've been bashing around in Redback laceups on the farm and in the bush for years now but finding the leather quality is not what it used to be. I know these aren't really "bushwalking boots" but they've served my purposes pretty well for many years, though they leak a bit.
I've noticed Scarpa Navigator boots on Ebay from Paddy Pallin for $100. I doubt they are Italian made any more but I had a pair years and years ago and they were top notch boots. Just wondering whether anybody has any experience with them? I am not after "technical" BS boots, just long and hard wearing.

Have a look on Mainpeak in the clearance section for SL3's. I think they are $250 from memory. More than your $100 for the Navigators, but a much better and longer lasting boot (and undoubtedly hard wearing in every sense).

If you know Scarpas are a fit for you, then check out some of the o/s online stores. Half the price of buying them retail here, including postage! (I'm sure there's more about the local vs online debate elsewhere)

I had my Scarpa Treks for about 8 years. The soles wore out - unevenly because of my gait - while the leather remained intact. I've since bought some Gore-tex versions of the same thing - Kailash.
