Hi,

I have some canvas back packs / gaiters that have been in storage they have mould on them and a musty smell

Any advise on how to clean this off

Worthwhile trying a Bi Carb Soda paste scrub with a nail brush then follow up with a cold water cycle in the washing machine or hand wash.

I have an old canvas tent that had some mold on it some years ago the manufacture told me to buy Milton from the supermarket its a liquid in a blue bottle used to sterilize babies bottles you make a dilute solution and sponge it down when it dries go to a camping store and buy some canvas reproofing "stuff" paint it on and Robert's your mothers brother

After cleaning off the mould, expose the pack to sunlight for a couple of hours. The UV will kill off the mould spores.

had a similar issue with a waxed cotton jacket recently

soaked in a bucket with water + 1 pack of baking powder for 24 hours

worked a treat

I use white vinegar if anything gets mouldy (which happens regularly in the tropics/sub-tropics). See post here too -> viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7683#p120516

I use vinegar too. Damp here in Katoomba so I wipe with vinegar, wash if possible and hang in the sun. Mould isn't a huge problem if it's removed quickly but you should make sure you're in a ventilated area or cover your airways with a mask or Buff so you don't breathe the spores in.
