TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Helinox - Great Customer Service !

On a recent trip, one of my Helinox LB135 trekking poles failed at the beginning of the hike. This wouldn't be that big a deal except I was relying on the poles as my tent poles as well as walking poles. All was not lost as the pole still extended enough to work with a rock as its base. Even in some of the windy conditions the pole held well.

After returning from my trip I contacted Norm from Helinox in Brisbane and gave him the low down on the failure. I wanted to make sure I got to him as I noticed I had purchased the poles exactly one year ago so was concerned about warranty expiring. Norm was very apologetic about the pole failure and immediately mailed me brand new poles as a replacement (even before I had mailed the offending pole to him). They arrived the next day and are a new model, the LB 130 which look great.

So props to Helinox and Norm for his fantastic customer service and responsiveness. I'll certainly keep buying from him.

Agree!! I tried the LB130s - liked - but wanted something lighter so switched them over for the TL120s. Norm set me out the TL120s in 24 hours even before I had returned the LB130s. Great poles! Well, I haven't tried any other brands but I just like that they a simple, strong & light and fit snow baskets if needed. What else so you need? Helinox umbrellas are great to...LIGHT & TOUGH...although they seem to be very similar (if not identical) to Golite umbrellas (in USA) which a quarter of the price (when on special) that Norm is charging.
