Does anyone have any experience and opinions on http://www.phdesigns.co.uk/index.php - particularly their down jackets?

Got one, it's great. :)

They custom built it for me because I'm tall and skinny. That's an unusual service in Down jackets suppliers.

Which model jacket did you get? I'm looking at a custom one too as I'm not built in proportion either.

I own one of their Yukon Down Jackets, fantastic bit of kit. Was used just about every day during my 2 months in Nepal earlier this year in temps from 0 to -30 and worked superbly. I was worried about its durability as the fabric feels quite thin but the jacket held up superbly to 60+ days of use in the mountains.

Just make sure you allow plenty of time for your order as all products are made when ordered and I think they can get pretty backed up at times.

Cheers for the replies. I''ve just ordered their Ultra Down Pullover - http://www.phdesigns.co.uk/product_info.php?cat=79&products_id=342

At only 275 grams I need to be careful or I might end up becoming one of these ultralight gear freaks :D

I thought people might be interested in this. PHD now have a "design your own down jacket" service. Check it out and have fun designing your perfect downie!

Having just received my custom-fitted Yukon jacket I can highly recommend PHD - the jacket is superbly made, amazingly light, and incredibly warm.

Cheers,
Alliecat

I've been using PHD gear for a number of years now and rate it highly. I have 2 sleeping bags (Minim 300 in black Mx and Baltoro 800) both bought in their excellent sales and a Minimus vest in black Drishell. They have a sale running at the moment. All the kit is hand made and the quality is exceptional. Peter Hutchinson originally founded Mountain Equipment so you know you are getting the best.

My next purchase will be one of their 'DYO' jackets for my trip to Nepal next year where I'll be trekking to Everest Base Camp and climbing Island Peak.
