Recently bought a pair of wigwam hiker socks and although they were a big improvement over the explorers, by the end of the 17k hike up and down hill I managed to get two small blisters. Wanting to try a liner sock next to see if this improves things, was thinking either the same brand (wigwam) or some ininji toe socks. Any opinions would be great and if you wear the ininji socks, which model works best as a liner?

I use any light weight business type of sock which is long enough to go up above the ankles and I prefer ones which have a fair amount of synthetic material in then so they can be washed out at days end if needed
I need to find a better sock than the new explorers as I consider them to be far inferior to what they used to be.
But then I also will walk with just a thin pair of socks some times when my pack is light (16-18kgs) as I use orthotics which have helped so so so much in any way of blisters (also reducing pack weight).

Only ever used Bridgedales and have found them to be excellent. They are nice and thin, and come in thermal and coolmax versions which I have found to make a big difference depending on temps you are walking in.
I never used to wear liners until earlier this year and have been amazed at how much more comfortable they make your feet.
Another bonus is that on a multiday walk you really only need to take one pair of walking socks and just rinse and rotate through 2 pairs of liners.

I'm using Munt Thermaliner liner socks and they are fantastic.

Yep - agree with that. I got some very thin coolmax business socks on ebay (branded to one of the department stores in the USA) and they have very good liners and super durable.

Can't really say what they are like yet but I just bought a pair of the ininji socks, I like them so far but haven't hiked with them yet. I'll use them as a liner first and see what they are like.

Check out the Australian made Wilderness Wear Wick-Dry Liners and their Merino Fleece Hike socks both excellent products at a very fair price I believe.

I highly recommend the injinjis! I recently switched from their thicker outdoor sock to the coolmax liner and they are fantastic. I wear these with thick woolen socks. I no longer get blisters in the toe area.

The annoying thing about injinjis is they are fiddly to put on.

I second this. I'm using $1 business socks from target at the moment, if for anything, because I can't justify shelling out money on expensive liners when I have something that does the job.

They're not excellent at 'wicking' but do their duty to reduce friction are light and functional. So yeah definitely a cheap alternative.
