Does any-one remember the model name of the 3 pole tent by Sierra Designs that was a winter version of the Flashlite??
The Flashlite while still being sold, is now a different tent to the model sold in the 80s, being all mesh for the inner, but I was wondering if there was any personal experience of the 3 pole winter model. Google doesn't help if I can't remember the model name
It was being sold by Paddy Pallin at the time

I thought it would be you replying mate. What is/was your opinion of them? Meets one of my criteria; steep side walls for maximum internal room. i really should get my small tent ( Firelite) back form wayward daughter

never used that, but yes Paddy had them on display when Sierra Designs was a favourite brand there.
I briefly had the ClipFlashlight, did not like that one but cannot remember how the Super was in size.
I used to crawl inside the tents on display and fiddle with them but that was many years ago.

I've got a Superflash too. Thinking about selling it as it is my second oldest tent (of the 7 I still have), but the kids and I had some great walks in it in the 1980's and it is full of laughter and happy memories. They christened it "the caterpillar". Still get it out and pitch it from time to time - a great design and really strong - able to carry a fair snow load too.
On second thoughts, maybe I won't sell it.

Oh dear, Sierra Designs, had one of their so-called 4 season tents once (single skin), took it above the tree line in New Zealand.
You got it, a disaster, consigned it to a rubbish bin, more than happy to wear the loss of a $400 tent.

That is funny...
A day or two after a certain tent here was described as " never get any condensation" someone else at BPL started his review of the same shelter with " condensation machine" (after a full month of use)
I think with gear we should always get a second opinion.

My old "Firelite" is the Eureka copy of the "Flashlite" and was one of my favourite tents. Not too heavy, lots of usable room and reasonably weatherproof.
Not to be confused with the "Clip Flashlite" which is not as strong a tent due to the way the poles wobble around in a wind, but very easy to erect
