How about a "leave pass" so the recipient can do that long desired walk that perhaps you don't want to. A low cost, non consumer gift that will be long remembered.

I know quite a few people that carry a straw to make it easier to suck water out of drip puddles etc. But i have to say this does take it to the extream!

Shhh - I stil may buy them, and whip them out on Chrissie morning in our little cabin on Coles Bay in Tassie. Plan on their virgin outing in the Hartz Peak area on Boxing Day.
Maybe if we get lost Wayno, we can use them to semaphore messages to rescuers.

As an aside when i was booking a cabin the real estate guy was happily telling me it has a lovely stone fireplce.

I can vouch for the single wall in raw Ti. Good size, and very nice to use. It won't crack like the GSR plastic cup it replaces. Really good gift idea. Snowpeak make such nice stuff. The chopsticks and those flasks

Actually, any gift ideas specifically for the fledgling lady bushwalker? She likes tough walks, cheese, wine and clothes but hates practical gear. Maybe those chopsticks... hmmmm.

All I want for Chrissie is good walking weather wherever I happen to be. And a Lotto ticket that scores me enough to retire on . . .

Someone has made a copy full scale sized split screen combie tent (google it on ebay)
It weighs in a t 12 kgs or so, but wouldn't it look good in your favourite camping spot way out of reach from any car...

I gave in and bought a pair of the Ti cups - always a sucker for a pretty colour. I hope they don't scratch too badly.

Allows you to take whatever wine you like to imbibe in instead of being restricted to the undrinkable mini chateau cardboard or mini bottles (no glass!). Highly recommended for those who enjoy a nice wine or port at the end of a big day of walking!

Do no, I repeat, do not succumb to buying the 300ml mini squishy packs of red or white wine from the bottle shop. They are truly horrible and not even worth cooking with (though I did keep the packaging for use as in the above post - looks like a good idea)

Yep agree there, horrid stuff.

I ordered some wet weather gear from Campsaver at the beginning of November as a Christmas present for my son. However there is a supply problem apparently and it looks like the stuff won't make it in time. I will have to find him something else.
