There was some talk on Andrew Skurka's Book on Lightweight backpacking of late, A few commented some of the info in the book, was a bit over the top, so to speak.

I recently came upon a book, that covers backpacking in general, covering both lightweight and those not so lightweight. It's got upto date info, even mentions with images my Trail Design cooking system and my future DuoMid shelter I'm waiting on.

I initially purchased the Kindle version for my Kindle, but recently purchased the book.

I think this is a great book for both beginners and experienced hikers.

I just finished reading that edition
My local library has a copy, quite a change from the first edition written and published in the UK.
I also found the information on gear quite useful and informative

Our local library are pathetic. the books in there are older than me.

Your lucky to have such a library that stocks books like this.

Thanks for the heads up Phil, I just looked and my library stocks it so I have put in a reserve, it should arrive at my local branch in a few days.

It's interesting to see that it has the trail designs system in it and the duomid as they are from such small manufacturers, I think its great. I've had caldera cone for a couple of years now and should be recieving a duomid one day soon - the order is in but the waiting is the hard bit

You can say that again. The waiting is a killer, I've been waiting for a duomid shelter now for a few months. I had one custom made in Australia, but it did not turn out so well, so I've since ordered the MLD DuoMid 5 weeks ago. I think I have about 4 weeks left to wait.
