New tarp and bivy set-up

Hi guys,

I got out for a hike on the weekend in the Berwora area and had a chance to setup a new tarp and bivy combo that i look forward to testing.

Nice report, I see your a fan of army stuff too!

I got quite a few bit's and pieces, basha's and bivi's from various nations around. The prices are ridiculously cheap for what you get. Current fave is a
US bivi out of the sleep system they use [ brand new $135 delivered 2 sleeping bags/goretex bivi/compression sack and foam pad ]. Obviously the bivi bag
is heavy but the quality of construction is just awesome. It's bombproof [ bad pun I know ]. Since it's made for some huge soldier clothed with all his kit,
I just took it to mum, who shortened and tapered it severely as well, to suit my size. It's much lighter and more compact, really quite usable.

Got a Belgian issue bivi I'm doing something similar to, going to team it up with a tiny micro tarp [ just covers top half of body ] It was $20 I think.

Got lots of stoves and mess kits too, more novelty but still fun....

Lot's of governments withdrawing out of Iraq/Afghanistan, lots of army stuff is going to flood the market soon.....

Always did like the army gear, even since i was a kid playing down the bush with my brother. This is the first setup using amry gear i have had in recent years, my other vids show my standard hammock setup which has been great over the past few years.

after 20 years using a bivvy bag and hootchie (tarp) I'm more than happy to have a tent. Mind you, in warm weather the tarp rocks. I just hate dust, mozzie and fine misty rain ingress...

You had me worried mate. I thought you were actually going to sleep on the ground lie awake all night tossing and turning on the ground. Glad to see you were just "playing" with new gear.
