Interesting... Do you think that the angle of pull suggested at the bottom may compromise their holding capacity? It is opposite of what you'd do with a regular peg.
It may work very well on sand and compact snow, not sure if it is suitable for soft snow or ice.

Makes perfect sense to me.
Large screw anchors are capable of holding up to 25 tonnes.

From Bluescrew
The tensile breaking strength is in the order of 400kg. The open hook at the top (used for springs on ropes) is the weakest point, approx. 110kg. However, if no spring we tie off under the T-handle.
The material is an engineered plastic, same tensile and torsional strength as mild steel.
We have not done pull tests in snow, however in pure beach sand using the large bluescrew, the ground fails at around 200kg pull.
In soil (sand, dirt, clay) which has a bit of grass cover, using the small bluescrew, the ground fails at around 120kg pull.
Best advice is to screw them into the snow/frozen soil and pull as hard as you can.

I've not tried the 'Blue Screws', but I do use something based on a similar concept. They're called 'Twizle pegs', and they work very well in both loose soil and snow (I use the 14cm long black ones).
