The Klymit 2013 Double Diamond Vest - a very strange beast

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I stumbled across this kind of odd find. The Klymit 2013 Double Diamond Vest .The technology sounds intriguing.
Has anyone seen one in the flesh?

You can inflate it with Argon to increase the insulative properties

Sigh. Of course no women's cut (grumble grumble).
Do they think to be a gear junkie requires a Y chromasome??
We can learn a lot from crayons. They come in different shapes and colours, but they all have to live in the same box

It's nice. Need the right size though otherwise its either too cold or too uncomfortable. They still ride up like a PFD when inflated and you go to sit down.
Not a bad idea though and pretty damn sexy!!

Of course no women's cut

There is a perfectly logical explanation for that.
It works best when inflated with Argon.
The Argonauts were all male , so no point in having a female version.

So to keep warm, all you need to do is carry a small cylinder of Argon around with you. That's practical.
ps: Yeah, divers have been using the stuff in drysuits for ages. Does work.

This seems like a vest for a guy who has too much money.

Practicality aside, why argon? It's thermal conductivity is only about 1/3 less than air.
Does it really make that much of a difference?

Next: Inflatable sleeping mats with xenon cartridges.

I really wanted to like this thing. It's like wearing your sleeping mat around. Very warm for what it is. Unfortunately it is fairly heavy compared to other options and making it much lighter could only make it less durable. I like the innovation from this company. They do build top notch gear.

PS.. you don't need to use a gas cartridge
PSS.. I not the guy with too much money, too much gear -yes!
