Like a mini solar-powered home, a to-be-released tent from Eddie Bauer offers a sun-soaking array on top of its roof and outlet plugs inside.

You let the panel passively absorb light all day. Then when you need a device recharged the tent offers an outlet to plug in gadgets like iPhones, GPS units, and cameras.

Interesting but I think carrying the required batteries or battery packs would be lighter and more convenient. Also, obviously the panels only work during the day and at that time people would be walking. Tents tend to be only pitched in the evening unless you have a base camp.

first ascent designs for climbers, so possibly the idea is a climbing base camp tent

The original EB Katabatic was a base camp tent so yes I would expect that this is just the newer version or addition to it.
Not 92" tall as reported in that link, probably still around 48" (120cm)

You could have a hot shower at the end of the day.
Although that solar panel looks a bit small. Why not make the entire tent of solar panels.
