Just another silly tent question

I'm looking for a lightweight 2 person tent that can still handle snow loading and winter for one person. I'm sort of thinking something like the Scarp 2 but having never seen one have no idea how big it is and if I want to use it winter for one with the cross poles it's over 2kg which I'm trying to go under. I thought of the Terra Nova Laser tents that are super lightweight but have no idea how they would handle conditions in winter in the Vic High Country. I already have a Hilleberg 2 person for bad weather with 2 people but to hot for summer.
If that makes sense, so a 2 person for two in summer but I can use as a one person for myself in winter and the lighter the better

Since you're a Melbournite go and visit Franco (Tarptent's man in Aus, sort of) in Port Melbourne. I would be surprised if he didn't have a Scarp he can show you.
The Scarp 2 might be over 2kg with the cross poles. But it is only that weight when you need it to be that weight.

Oh cool I'll have to get onto him, That's also what I thought about the weight. I think in summer i'd be fine with just the fly and a ground sheet, but would be great if I can use it on solo colder weather hikes

If you are serious about using it with fly+groundsheet only in summer, then a Scarp 1 would probably suffice.

So you want a 2 man tent under 2 kgs that can handle snow loading?
Narrows the options a bit in that weight limit. Maybe unrealistic weight limit

If the shelter is to be used for one in winter and two in summer, the Scarp 1 could work for that.
For the winter set up it will be around 1700g with the extra poles :

In summer you can indeed leave the inner and extra poles at home and you will be able to have two person in there each with their own entry point.
You can in fact fit two mats inside the inner if you want

The black and blue mats are 6' long
BTW, I am now in Altona.

my reply to you via TT E Mail was rejected by your server.
Happens to Henry as well so sometime if you don't get an answer from us that is the reason.
Never happens with GMail and the like, always work E Mails .
